OUR FOUNDERS

There’s a running joke about our founders being a motley crew. Something along the lines of a photographer, a lawyer and a chef walk into a bar. But the joke’s not far from the truth. Coming from vastly different backgrounds and skill sets, our founders, Katherine Nugent, Di Mayfield and Guy Parkinson, found their way to creating Clare Valley Distillery over shared interests and passions. Namely, a passion for Clare. A passion for community. And a passion for enjoying great gin.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Our philosophy has always been one of community, connection, collaboration and creating high-quality Clare Valley gin to be enjoyed in good company. Each of our gins has its own story and unique flavour profile, highlighting select local and native botanicals sourced from our founder’s gardens and the local community—where possible. But our collaborative and community-minded nature extends well beyond our botanical selection. We’re all about getting more people to experience the wonders of Clare, from its food to its history, bike trail, open air and famed wines. We even produce a local Melva Riesling gin with local producer, Wines by KT.

OUR HOME

The recent completion of our state-of-the-art distillery and tasting room overlooking the Clare showgrounds and nuzzled along Clare’s famous Riesling Trail was a very proud moment for our brand. It brings our philosophy full circle. Not only do we now have a range of gins infused with the essence of Clare, but we also have a home in Clare from which to share them. A place for locals, visitors and those just passing through. A place to connect with others or relax surrounded by nature. A place for a quick sip or to slowly savour away a day. But most importantly, it's a place where you can experience true community spirit.
